This year heralds the start of a new Strategic Plan period for AFROSAI-E. With the Strategic Plan for 2020 – 2024 coming into effect on 1 January, we are delighted that two of our long-standing institutional partners have committed their continued support to the region for this period.
Our collaboration with the Swedish National Audit Office (SNAO) has been invaluable for capacity building in the region. The new Memorandum of Understanding, effective from January 2020 until 2024, focuses primarily on developing member-SAIs’ methods and skills in performance audit, financial audit and quality assurance.
In terms of this cooperation agreement, the Swedish NAO will provide expertise and financial support in the implementation of the AFROSAI-E Strategic Plan for 2020-2024. The project also aims to build a regional resource base, which will ultimately reduce reliance on external expertise.
The Office of the Auditor General of Norway (OAGN) also confirmed their continued support to the strategic direction of AFROSAI-E for the next five years with a new Memorandum of Understanding.
The OAGN’s ongoing support will enable us to continue strengthening efforts that started in the previous strategic plan period. These include amongst others, building capacity in the region on IT Audit, with the aid of a long-term advisor from Norway to the Secretariat. The OAGN will also continue to support the region with expertise on the audit of extractive industries, in addition to a broader support for the implementation of the new strategic plan.
Said CEO, Meisie Nkau: “We are truly fortunate to have institutional partners that have shown such steadfast support over the years to the strategic vision of AFROSAI-E. Our strategic goals and objectives for the next five years are purposeful and outcome driven. We believe that the renewed support confirmed by the collaboration agreements with SNAO and OAGN will be vital in our efforts to meet these ambitious targets.”
